About us
Folktandvården is the public dental service in the County of Norrbotten. Our vision is "A healthy mouth of all ages" and the goal is to help citizens in Norrbotten to achieve and maintain good oral health through life. The mission of Folktandvården and its 570 employees is to offer the county's children and young people free dental care and to supply the dentistry needs of asylum seekers, the elderly, and functionally disabled.

The service also provides general and specialist dental care for the county´s adult population in competition with private dental care providers. The division operates from some 30 units in the county's 14 municipalities. Folktandvården also work with county-wide specialist dental care where all specialties are represented and we run dental technology laboratories.

Why we participate in Best Agers Lighthouses
We need, both now and in the future, to have good access to qualified personnel willing to work with dental care in the whole county i.e. the coastal, inland and sparsely populated areas. In order to run a good business we must be active and need to bridge any recruitment difficulties in the future with several strategies, one strategy is to participate in the Best Agers Lighthouses project.

Besides the need of access to qualified personnel, our experience also shows that diversity at the workplace, where young employees work together with best agers, creates opportunities for exchange of knowledge and it is also very valuable since it helps to create a good working environment. By being a part of the project, we want to create opportunities to keep older workers in service until retirement age and hopefully even longer.
