About us
The Latvenergo Group is the largest power supply company in the Baltics engaged in electricity and thermal energy generation, electricity supply and provision of electricity transmission and distribution services. The structure of the Group is composed of six commercial companies led by the parent company Latvenergo AS. It is a state capital company and is considered as one of the most environmentally friendly electricity pro-ducers in Europe.

The Latvenergo group's mission is to ensure safe, qualitative and envi-ronmentally friendly energy production and delivery, which promotes well-balanced and sustainable develop-ment of the national economy. The project activities take place in Latvenergo AS company.

Why we participate in Best Agers Lighthouses
 Labour aging is a serious issue especially in Latvia, where the decrease of economically active population is even more rapid than the overall decrease of population. Latvenergo is one of the largest companies and its employees' age structure reflects the demographic situation and labour market challenges in Latvia. The company has more than half of employees at age over 40 with special technical knowledge which will be difficult to replace with changed education system and no opportunities for increased job places for young people.

The terms "flexicurity" and "silver economy" have appeared on the agenda as important topics which provide new opportunities as well as challenges for companies like Latvenergo to find new creative ways how to organise the work more efficiently and flexibly along with ensuring motivating and attractive environment for employees of all generations. The purpose of participating in the project for Latvenergo was to look at best practices in other European countries regarding this challenging area with opportunities to introduce new approaches in company's human resource management field.
