Roles in the project
The respective experiences and knowledge concerning demography and age management are transferred to and applied in the extension stage, where NLL facilitates a LAMP. NLL also runs a project on competence supply in a generation shift in the county of Norrbotten. The results from this project can be used in the "Lighthouses" project, e.g. generation shift in municipalities and SMEs in rural areas and mentor programs.

About us
The County Council of Norrbotten (NLL) is providing welfare services to the inhabitants in the northernmost Swedish region Norrbotten. Appr. 7 200 employees are working in health services, dental services and regional development. NLL is governed by a political body representing the county inhabitants. These politicians represent seven political parties, mostly national but also one regional party. In the dissemination phase they will be important channels for presenting results from the "Lighthouses" project. The results from the project will be implemented and spread in the region but also nationally. NLL was a partner in the main stage Best Agers project.

Why we participate in Best Agers (Lighthouses)
In Norrbotten we must ensure the supply of labour and competence. One way is to regard elderly employees as a real potential in our work places. The demographic trend is a real challenge in the region. We have experienced several years of decrease in population despite high growth in our industry. This is due to both low immigration and birth deficit. Combined with an aging population, this means that Norrbotten is facing a major challenge in the near future when it comes to labour and skills shortages. Through development of general methods for transfer of competence and deal with generation shift, the County can be a pioneer and contribute to the European added value.

County Council of Norrbotten acts as a Facilitating Partner in the Best Agers Lighthouse project to cooperate with and learn in this field from other regions in the Baltic Sea Area.

NLL also runs a project on competence supply in a generation shift in the county of Norrbotten. The results from this project can be used in the "Lighthouses" project, e.g. generation shift in municipalities and SMEs in rural areas and mentor programs.
